J:Kenzo & Mosaix fuse as Artikal to bring you the dark twisted sounds of ‘Alone in the Darkness’.
With support from pioneering Dj’s such as Youngsta & Hatcha, this first release from the Artikal camp brings back the original vibe of the dubstep genre, a weighty bass bin punisher. The flip includes a remix by DJ Madd which delves even deeper to deliver rolling beats and bass for the largest of soundsystems.

The pair, who’ve worked together in the past for Joy Orbison’s other label Doldrums, toasted the announcement with a new mix from Orbison (still available to hear here), but were tight-lipped on what Hinge Finger would actually release. In this weekend’s Guardian, however, Joy revealed that the first release on Hinge Finger would be a record by New York’s Madteo, whose past releases have come on labels such as Workshop and Morphine. Its title? Bugler Gold Pt. 1.
Discogs already has an entry listed for Bugler Gold Pt. 1, and claims it will feature the following four tracks. No release date as yet though.
A1 Bugler Gold Pt.1 5:52
A2 Biz R Us (Whore Power Resolution) 3:07
B1 Scream Seq. 2 5:03
B2 Xtra Loose Change (2010 Refix) 9:31

Who’d have thunk it? Kevin Martin is collaborating with Grouper on music for his next album as The Bug.
Grouper, real name Liz Harris, has earned much acclaim over the past few years for her work as Grouper, and last year’s two-part AIA album represented the most satisfying distillation yet of her influences – folk, shoegaze, noise and dub being the most obvious. Her vocals – invariably put through oceans of reverb – are the most recognisable component of her sound, and it’s presumably their eerie, heart-stopping quality that Martin is hoping to tap for this intriguing collaboration.
The hook-up signals something of a departure for The Bug: Martin’s last album under that name, 2008′s London Zoo, was all about heaviness, and on it he favoured vocalists with an aggressive, at times oppressive, presence (Warrior Queen and Flow Dan spring immediately to mind). Still, Martin’s explorations of ambient music pre-date even The Bug, and ethereal textures – vocal and electronic – are at the heart of his ongoing King Midas Sound band project.
News of the collaboration with Harris came via a tweet earlier this week:
“Spent the last two weeks writing sketches/demos for forthcoming collaboration between me and Grouper for the upcoming Ninja Tune Bug album.”
